Linda Doutre Fine Art and Jewelry
Linda Doutre is a Modern Expressionist artist. She paints from experimentation and feeling and often says, “I fall into the painting.” This is her way of saying that the painting tells her what to do next or what is needed. Her work is emotionally driven and expressive in its’ content. Her paintings often tell a story. She strives for connection between the work of art and the art lover. Her work is alive with color, movement, and often mystery. Linda is a mixed media artist, using acrylic and other water media, collage and oils. Her work ranges from semi-real to abstract/nonobjective. “The creative process brings joy to the artist and the lover of the art. Art makes my heart sing and fills me with joy.”
In addition to painting, Linda designs and produces one-of-a-kind jewelry. She looks for the unusual and unexpected in the design process. “Nature gives us infinite shapes, textures and colors to inspire our creative energy.” In blending these elements and through experimentation, she makes each piece of jewelry a work of art. She wants her design to “speak” to the person wearing it. She often compliments her designs with natural stones, crystals, fused glass, and vintage glass beads and uses silver, copper, and some gold in the different designs. Linda also uses lampwork beads in many of her beaded and fiber necklaces to add to their striking individuality and further her design philosophy for the eye-catching work of art within a work of art. Lampwork is a glass working process using a torch to melt and shape the glass. The glass is heated until molten, wound around a specially coated steel mandrel and embellished or decorated using a variety of techniques and materials. Each bead is one-of-a-kind. In jewelry design, as in the painting process, Linda is trained in different jewelry processes, including enameling, bead weaving with fiber and beads as well as silver and gold smithing.
“Women and men have found ways throughout time to adorn themselves and their surroundings. Our eyes seek the form that pleases and holds our attention.”
The art of adornment thrives in the creative process of Linda Doutre and Linda Doutre Arts.
